I received the drive for evaluation and the drive arrived DOA.

Knock on wood, but after many, many year of building system for myself and customers, this is my first DOA. I know they happen but I was still surprised. I first tried it in my server where it never showed up, not even in the BIOS. I had intended to test it in my server since that runs 24/7 and is fairly busy but no luck. I was able to put it in the hard drive dock of my technician PC and after a while it showed up but I could not format it. It would keep dropping off. Finally, I ran SeaTools, booted from a DOS CD, and it failed both the long and short tests with an error. I sent this error off to Seagate but they will not replace the drive since they do not warranty evaluation drives.

It's too bad. I was looking forward to testing out this 2 platter drive. I've heard good things about the technology. I've also had very good luck with a previous Seagate 2TB drive, the Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS 2TB so I was looking forward to comparing the two. If I get a working version, I'll come back and update the review.
